  Well organized as usual with a Dummy Book. Easy to find answers to questions. Love the idea list for home businesses. Great book.

  The book did spend a lot of time talking about how to deal with family problems, creating a quiet workspace, setting work hours and how to get through a project when you have no desire. While some people might find this beneficial, it read like “filler” to me.

  The book is organized, reader-friendly, and informative. Everything is covered in this book. From the types of businesses to how to market the business, to taxes and retirement, trademarks and other legal concerns. How to work from home when you’ve got kids, pets, aging parents, nosy neighbors, etc. Plus many web addresses that will help in your planning, ex. Better Business Bureau.

  Paul Edwards shares his great knowledge in yet another book to help anyone start thier own business. I think this book is great, concise, and entertaining.

  This is not exactly what I expected. It is a good reference book, but lacks in the specific business types, so am a little disappointed. I will probably use it for reference material and that is about it.

  And that was what I wanted to know. Should I start a home-based business or should I look for a regular 9-5 job? Turns out I am more suited for a regular job than I am to run a sole proprietorship. I considered Avon et al, but the authors had some glaring statistics about the possible failure rate of such businesses. I considered a few other options, but again, the authors provided valuable insight, based on statistics and qualitative research, that convinced me not to make this venture.

  The book is organized, reader-friendly, and informative. Everything is covered in this book. From the types of businesses to how to market the business, to taxes and retirement, trademarks and other legal concerns.   This is the only book you will need to determine if you should run a home-based business. This book is the only one you will need to convince you it is not right for you. This is also a book that will give you the help and resources you need if you are ready for the home-based business. Highly, highly recommended!!!!

  I’ve gone through about half of the book and it follows in line with all the “for dummies” books I’ve read. The topics are well laid out and organized very well. I found some things too simplistic and ended up skimming over them. Overall I’m glad I got it as it reinforced a lot of the things I need to get done in order to get my start-up business going. They do cover both start up from scratch businesses and buying a franchise or another established business. The latter wasn’t of interest and I ended up skipping large sections because of it.
  A good reference for starting a business.

  If ever there was a time to take seriously starting your own business, this is it. Petersen’s book offers an alternative to the grueling task of finding a new job. Its format allows the you to explore and determine your business “fitness” and contains nuts-and-bolts worksheets to put you behind your desk with confidence. Insightful. Practical. Dare I say engaging?

  I read this book in my leisure in the desert and every chapter, every experience, every word made sense to me. I have started a number of small business’s and only wish this manual was in my hands when I started. Give this to any friend who says to you,

  This book was very useful in helping me decide whether to start a business and go out on my own. The worksheets helped me to define myself and my aspirations. Very easy to understand and follow. A lot of helpful information in setting up a business the right way the first time.

  This book was right on target with its user-friendly guidance and advice. It gave me hope for a simpler way of living and working. It coached me every step of the way toward creating my own one-person business. Now I’m reading it again as I strive to increase my business, become profitable, yet maintain independence in my professional life and freedom in my personal life. This book’s workbook format, checklists, and no frills advice made me feel like I had a professional career coach right by my side. It is the best business investment I’ve made yet.

  Should be titled: 203 OTHER BOOKS AND THINGS YOU CAN BUY FROM TYLER HICKS TO MAKE HIM RICH!

  This is probably the worst book on business that I have ever read. The business suggestions that Tyler Hicks gives are not realistic and will NOT make you rich. Additionally, he spends most of his time selling his other products. To me, this book is the prototypical “get rich quick” scheme that never works for anyone. Don’t waste your money.

  Ty Hicks writes books that are pre-sale materials for his other more detailed products. They are intended to show the wealth seeker the possibilities. Many of the reviewers that critized the Hicks materials probably paid thousands for an education that has not made wealthy other wise they would not have looked at this book. Specialized knowledge is what Hicks is selling. The “kits” provide the details. They are larger and more expensive and would be marketable in a book store. The newsletter has real info on loan sources. Hicks does actually answer his phone and will answer your questions. There are no other books in a book store that will give everything needed to actually run a business and learn the business. Even my other favorite, Robert Kiosaki, doesn’t tell what to do in any of the Rich Dad books. So get over it and get off you rear and stop read these books and start doing business.

  While I would agree with most other reviewers that this is more of an “idea” book and not much on the nuts-and-bolts, still, every great business in the world did start with an idea.

  The author uses repeated references to his own products because that is what he knows best and his product line was fabulously successful in sales! I did not find these mentions distractive.

  The reference list of associations in Chapter 5 is useful and handily organized. The list of products/services in the back does contain some business ideas that I had not considered before.

  The banking and loan information tips are particularly valuable and presented in easy-to-understand terms. The author’s advice is excellent, and the average person probably does not know how to approach the applications in the way he explains.

  This book did not offer much useful (practical) information or idea. A lot of time he’s only selling his own stuff.
